The Focus of an Airport Scorecard

One will not have an idea what airports should be like if one does not voyage often. However, many travelers have experienced bad buyer service, not only in relation to dealing with inept airport crew members, but also in observation of the actual processes of the airport. For this reason, the administration team of airports should have an objective way of measuring either the assistance the airport provides is at par with the current standard. This means there is someone there that should make an airport scorecard that will allow the administration to part what is effective and what is not.

Since customers are the bloodline of every airport, it is imperative that developments and benchmarking processes should be done incessantly to keep up with the times. There may be a lot of things that can be improved and measured out there. A study using statistical diagnosis will show the administration the major pain points of an airport. From this statistical study, a scorecard may be derived and later on improved as well.

Airport Security

From a financial perspective, the airport administration may part wage generating activities and fees by finding at the fees charged. One of these is the aircraft landing fee. This is the fee that airports charge for aircrafts that land on the airport. It is not sure if all aircrafts are charged for accident landings. Perhaps not at all. Other aspect that may be looked into in airport administration in terms of finances is the total funds or expenses for operations. As in any business, there will be operating costs because a company has to pay its workers, the electricity and other utilities, repairs, maintenance, etc. administration should look and drill down on expenses that are not necessary, and then cut down on these expenses to efficiently conduct the airport.

On Other aspect, safety is one of the most important things that need managing and efficiency. Other than the manual safety checks that passengers experience, there has to be electronic devices put in place to ensure security, not only of the passengers, but the employees, too. Occurrences such as hi-jacks and terrorist attacks in the past should be adequate to serve as studying experiences. Other than frisking, it will be helpful if there are scanners and x-rays ready in the airport. Other than this, safety computers should be there to check either passports are valid or not. This way, criminals will not have a opening of crossing the border.

Many more metrics may be included in measuring the efficiency of an airport, such as cleanliness, accident preparation, ground noise level, passenger comfort, waiting areas, and other facilities, and so on. The list can go on forever but then, what the managers should look into is the requisite aspects of the airport that contributes greatly to its operations and income. This is the best way to make an airport scorecard by which processes will be measured and finally improved. After all, there is all the time room for revision in any company and industry. Why stop now, right?
